Liz ParkMeet Ms. Park

Elizabeth (Liz) Park was born in Mountain View and raised in San Jose, California. She completed her primary and secondary education in Cupertino public schools before attending the Benerd School of Education at the University of the Pacific. At Pacific, she studied Elementary Education and Human Development. During her studies, Liz worked in various elementary schools as a teacher’s assistant, reading intervention specialist, and after school program coordinator. Upon graduation, she moved to Incheon, South Korea to work as an English instructor at an English immersion private academy. During her near two year stay, Liz was able to learn more about her family’s culture as well as South Korea’s exceptional education system. Liz returned from Korea in March of 2012.

Elizabeth began to understand the power of progressive education while working towards her multiple subject teaching credential. Through her experiences over the past six years, Liz has solidified her philosophy of teaching and learning. She believes that in order to successfully nurture a new generation at such a dynamic time, children must learn to be independent problem solvers and creative thinkers. They must learn to think critically about any issue they may encounter, be it academic, social, or philosophical. In order to support such growth a strong community must be present both in and outside of the classroom, one in which children are empowered to take risks and communicate their thoughts and feelings effectively. With a supportive community and creative, hands-on instruction that fosters investigative learning, Liz hopes to inspire and teach her students the value of themselves, their ideas, and the communities that support them.

Although teaching is her number one joy, Liz also enjoys arts and crafts, reading children’s fantasy books, and spending time with her 11 year old dachshund in her free time.
