Meet Ms. Bean
Amanda was born and raised in San Diego. She attended UC, Irvine for her undergraduate work in Dance and Education and danced professionally for Sea World to help pay her college expenses. At UCI she participated in a scholarship program called ArtsBridge in which she brought world dance to low socioeconomic schools in Santa Ana. The program helped to increase test scores and attendance in these schools. She believes kids learn best when they are having fun and are actively experiencing the curriculum. This experience sparked her curiosity in teaching so she pursued her master's degree in Elementary Education at UC, San Diego. After teaching various grade levels in San Diego public and magnet schools she decided that a more progressive environment would fit her needs and match her personal teaching philosophy. She actively sought out schools all over California and when she discovered an opening at PACT two years ago, she contacted the district immediately.
"It was nice to walk into a new environment and feel right at home," she says. She visits her family in Southern California frequently but feels right at home here in Mountain View and loves teaching at PACT where she gets to create hands on/active lessons for her students, collaborate with parents, and learn from her incredible teaching partners.
In her free time Amanda enjoys dancing, of course, comedy shows, reading, and relaxing on beaches (although they are a lot colder then ones down south). She hopes to do more traveling in her summers off but is thrilled to be here at PACT!
