Meet Ms. Srivatsa
Savitha has been a Stevenson parent for 6 years and is thrilled to be a teacher in the community that has been/ is home to her sons. She grew up in South India and has an undergrad degree in Physics and a Masters in Business, and worked in advertising before she switched careers to teaching. Her career shift was influenced by all the wonderful teachers in Oakland and Berkeley, who were so passionate about their jobs and invested in their students' progress, both socially and academically. A 6 month Americorps stint led her to her Masters in Education from UC Berkeley. After a year working part time to be with her year old son, she took 7 years off before starting to substitute teach again at Stevenson and then worked as an Associate teacher at Bullis Charter School for a year before starting at Stevenson in 2015.
She is excited about having the opportunity to create a classroom that aligns with her education values: integrated curriculum, social emotional learning, real life application, community support, embracing struggle and learning by doing.
