01.06.2021

Dear Stingray Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday break and ready to start the new year!

I am thankful to be able to see each day the dedication that our teachers have to our students and families. I am impressed with not only the virtual instruction, but the way that staff is building relationships with our students. One way that we monitor student engagement and growth is how they are progressing with our assessments. As you may know, before we went on Winter Break, students were given the i-Ready Diagnostic for both Reading and Math. I am excited to share that Stevenson students made growth in both subject areas.  For Reading, proficient scores increased from 76% to 85%.  In Math, proficient scores increased from 64% to 78%. Way to go Stingrays! Parents can view individual student reports in PowerSchool accounts. At our next School Site Council meeting on January 27th, we will be taking a closer look at student results from the latest i-Ready Diagnostics.

A friendly reminder that next week is Parent-Teacher conferences. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher about their progress during distance learning and areas of focus to support your child social emotionally and academically.

Sincerely,

Ryan Santiago

Principal, Stevenson Elementary
