Dear Stingray Parents and Guardians,

COVID Test Kits

COVID test kits will be sent home today, Thursday, April 7th, in your child’s backpack. The test kits this time will contain only one COVID test. Please make sure that your student takes the test the evening of Sunday, April 17th. If your child tests positive, please notify Kass Madrid ([email protected]) and Renae Rhodes ([email protected]). Thank you for your support in helping our students have a safe and healthy learning environment at school.

CAASPP Testing

California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) testing for grades 3-5 will occur in April and May. Due to the pandemic and school closures, this will be the first time in two years that the students will be taking the state tests again in MVWSD. 3rd through 5th grade will take the ELA and Math test. 5th Grade will also have a Science. Since this will be a new test for all 3rd-5th grade students, classrooms have been providing practice sessions with students so they can become familiar with the testing platform. During these testing weeks, please help your child get good rest each evening and please try not to schedule any appointments that would make your child miss school.

Last week’s walkathon was a great time together! It was fun to see students and parents walking the laps and having fun! Thank you to our community for helping with fundraising for our Stevenson students! A special thank you to the parent walkathon committee and all the parents that volunteered to make this wonderful event happen!

Sincerely,

Ryan Santiago

Principal, Stevenson Elementary

Spring Break April 11-15

Mountain View Whisman School District is on spring break April 11-15.

Parents and staff members will once again be receiving free COVID test kits from schools this week. Please remember to administer the free at-home COVID test kit to your child on April 17, before returning to school on April 18. If your child has symptoms or a positive result, he/she must stay home. Please see https://www.mvwsd.org/returntolearn for detailed COVID information. Have a safe and restful time away.

COVID Masking

Both outdoor and indoor masking is strongly recommended (but no longer required) for students and staff in our schools and offices. However, there are times that masks are still very highly recommended.

Lunch lines are open!

Multi-use rooms opened for food distribution this week as a result of loosened COVID restrictions. Students will wear masks as they pick up food indoors. Outdoor eating will continue. Please click here for a video about how the new food lines work: https://vimeo.com/694953946. Thanks in advance for your patience as we adjust to new procedures.
