Dear Stingray Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to take a moment during my first week as your interim principal to share how truly energized I am by what I've witnessed in our halls and classrooms.
In celebration of Black History Month, our library has become a hub of innovative learning under Ms. Donahue's guidance. Students have embarked on an engaging journey exploring civil rights leaders and their enduring legacies. Through a recent library activity, students not only learned about these influential figures but also deeply reflected on their characteristics, choosing which traits to embody as they created their own teams of civil rights leaders. Thank you Ms. Donahue!
The resilience of our English learner community continues to inspire us. At our recent English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC) meeting, we celebrated remarkable progress, with our English learners achieving record advancement on state tests compared to last year. This achievement reflects the extraordinary persistence of our students and their families who demonstrate unwavering determination every day.
Our community recently came together to honor former principal Terri Lambert, paying tribute to her outstanding leadership and dedication to public education. The outpouring of respect and appreciation from students, staff, and parents was a touching reminder of her lasting impact on our school community.
As we celebrate National School Counselors Week, we're particularly grateful for the strong collaboration between our teachers and our exceptional counselor, Emily. At our recent staff meeting, we acknowledged how this partnership strengthens our ability to support students. Emily's contributions are invaluable to our school community.
Finally, we witnessed the power of community in action during our recent blood drive. Under the leadership of Katy Crain, who continues to be an inspiring force in numerous school initiatives, our community members came together to donate enough blood to potentially save over 100 lives. This remarkable achievement demonstrates how our community extends its care and support beyond our school walls.
These moments remind us that our school values aren't just words—they're lived experiences that enrich our community every day.
Warm Regards,
Megan Pohlman, Interim Principal

Reporting Absences
Please call the office at (650) 903-6950 or email Stevenson Attendance [email protected] to report an absence or late arrival. Provide the following information: date of absence, student’s name, grade and room number, reason for absence, name and relationship of the person reporting the absence.
Arts Focus Volunteers
Arts Focus needs 6-10 more volunteers each week to keep the program running smoothly. This is especially helpful during cold and flu season when absences are high (either the volunteer or their child is out sick). You can sign up to help out for a 2-hour shift on any ArtsFocus Thursday using this sheet: ArtsFocus All Hands On Deck. Arts Focus is a ton of fun too!
Friendly reminder that if you normally volunteer Thursdays, Arts Focus is counting on you to show up to support classes. If you are unable to continue volunteering on Thursdays or will be absent one week, please contact Devangi Amin at [email protected] or via Konstella so the Arts Focus team can plan accordingly.

Better Together: February
Black History Month provides MVWSD with a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans while fostering a deeper sense of community among our students, staff, and families. By learning about influential Black leaders, innovators, and community helpers - from local civil rights activists to Black educators, doctors, and entrepreneurs who shaped our neighborhood - students develop a broader understanding of how diverse voices and experiences have strengthened our community. Last week, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution honoring February as Black History Month. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
