Dear Stingray Parents and Guardians,
At yesterday’s Principal’s Coffee I shared the public California School Dashboard for Stevenson. The state compiles all metrics from last year (22-23 school year) and publishes the California School Dashboard each December. The indicators are presented in the form of colored speedometers with the goal for all schools to be in green or blue on each metric.
Stevenson overall lands in the blue for the academic areas (ELA and Math). In the areas of suspension rate we are in yellow because the rate increased last year (from 0% the previous year to .9% last year). In Chronic Absenteeism we are in green since our rate improved from 8.9% to 7%. In English Learner Progress we are also in the green.
Please visit the dashboard for Stevenson to see more details, including details about subgroup progress. You can also see the dashboard for the state as a whole as well as for any other school in California.
You also have information specific to your child with the iReady Diagnostic Growth report that is in your Parent Portal reports section. Whether they are already on grade level or not, every child should make at least 100% progress toward their Annual Typical Growth goal by the end of the year. That information is given to you in this iReady report.

Reporting Absences
Please call the office at (650) 903-6950 or email Renae Rhodes at [email protected] and Kass Madrid at [email protected] to report an absence or late arrival. Provide the following information: date of absence, student’s name, grade and room number, reason for absence, name and relationship of the person reporting the absence.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you are in good health heading into the last weekend of the break. I have an update and change of schedule for book club. Due to a conflict with babysitting and in order to ensure we have babysitting available, we are changing our next book club date to 1 week later: THURSDAY FEBRUARY 8th-6:30-8pm in the Stevenson Library. I deeply apologize for any inconvenience and we hope this doesn't affect anyone's ability to attend. We are really looking forward to discussing All Boys Aren't Blue. Hope to see you there! Pull forward all the way to make space for cars behind you.

Don’t cut the car line.

After you drop off or pick up, move to the left to make room for cars to pull up next to curb.

Don’t walk across the parking lot during drop off or pick up times when there is lots of traffic in the parking lot; it’s not safe and slows down the flow of cars.

Take a deep breath. We know the start of school can be chaotic. You got this.

For Fifth-Grade Families: Middle School Info Night on Jan. 22
Please join us at this fun and informative virtual event. It is an opportunity for you and your fifth-grader to learn about middle school life. The District is beginning its annual process of updating the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan)
This input collected will guide the update of our District plan for the 2024-25 school year. Look for a meeting at your school to learn more about the LCAP process.

SELPA 1 CAC Parent Education Event: Assistive Technology
SELPA 1 CAC, Palo Alto CAC and the PAUSD PATCH team are pleased to host a Zoom panel on Assistive Technology! Assistive Technology (AT) can help with communication and accessing curriculum for a wide variety of students, from those who have specific learning disabilities to dyslexia, ADHD to hearing challenges, unique visual needs or those students who are non-verbal. The View Teen Center: January
The View Teen Center is a free facility in Mountain View (263 Escuela Ave) for all Mountain View and Los Altos 6th - 12th grade students. Drop-in hours are Monday - Friday, 3:15 - 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 1 - 6 p.m., and the center features a game room, makerspace, kitchen, computer/study room, outdoor area, and much more! City of MV: Community Meetings for Homeless Response Strategy
The City of Mountain View is seeking your input to create a Homelessness Response Strategy to address homelessness, assist the unhoused and respond to community needs. Take part in defining a clear vision and action plan to guide decisions about goals, actions, funding and programs!
The City is hosting two community forums to give all community members the opportunity to learn more about homelessness in our community and the City's planning process. The forums will be January 18 (In person at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave.) and January 25 (via Zoom, register here). For the January 18 in-person forum, light refreshments will be served and childcare will be available. Interpretation services are available in Spanish, Chinese and Russian for both meetings.
