Dear Stingray Parents and Guardians,

The spring session of the  parent-run after-school enrichment program, PACTPals, started this week.  A huge thank you to Melissa Chang for organizing the vendors and the student sign-ups, as well as arranging the room space with me.   Arts Focus spring session began last week and huge appreciation is also due to leads Nagehan Ozcelik  and Rimma Borisnova and the 70 or so family volunteers that make this happen for Stevenson students!

An important reminder, volunteers and visitors cannot take photographs or video of any student on campus during regular school hours.  This is a legal mandate to protect privacy.

The Literably assessment (Grades 1-5)  and the district writing assessment (Grades K-5) are being given now and will be completed before Winter Break.  The second trimester ends Feb 16 and after the break teachers will be working on grades and report cards that will go home in early March.

Open House and Exhibition Night are Thursday, March 21st.  Save the date!

Warm Regards,

Terri Lambert

Principal, Stevenson Elementary

Better Together: February

February marks a very important time in our district where we pause to honor and celebrate Black History Month, shining a spotlight on the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans in our community and throughout our shared history. It serves as a reminder to us all to acknowledge the struggles and triumphs that have shaped the Black experience in the US. This month #BetterTogether also encourages us to speak up about the importance of equality, justice, and the ongoing fight against systemic racism. The essential question for the month is: How do I speak up for myself and for others? Black History Month offers us an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the diversity that makes our community strong, and to use our voices to advocate for positive change for all. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
